The Garden Again!

This was my second water lilly adventure at the Jindai Botanical Garden.  

Amazingly enough, these photos were taken with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. 
That camera allows me to zoom in well beyond the camera's maximum zoom 5x setting.

I love the effects I was able to get!

 

For the most part, life has been great in Kashima. 

Setsuko has come for several visits.

We have been able to do some exploring, as well several trips to our favorite store, Costco!

I also took two trips to Fuchu, which gave me a good opportunity to catch up with some of my friends. 

 

The weather has truly been something else!

Kashima normally gets around 8.5 inches of rain for the month of September.
However, this year was quite the exception, as it rained virtually every day, for a total of close to 25 inches for the month!
In addition, several typhoons hit.
I thought I was going to end up in the land of Oz! 

One of my greatest joys continues to be reading.
I read "Secrets," Daniel Ellsberg's stunning portrayal of his experiences related to his releasing of the Pentagon Papers to the press.

That book inspired me to read "All The President's Men," the incredible true story of how Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein broke the Watergate story.
Those readings inspired me to watch the movie by the same title, starring Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford.
I could not stop there, so I watched the movie The Post, starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. 
Great acting all the way around!

鹿島では例年9月の降水量は約21.5cmですが、

今年は例外で、ほぼ毎日雨が降り、月間降水量はなんと約63.5cmにも達しました！

さらに、複数の台風も襲来しました。

まるでオズの国に迷い込んだかと思いましたよ！

読書は今も変わらず私の大きな楽しみの一つです。

ダニエル・エルズバーグ著の『シークレット』を読みました。ペンタゴン・ペーパーズをマスコミにリークした際の彼の体験を鮮やかに描いた作品です。

この本に触発されて、『大統領の陰謀』を読みました。ワシントン・ポスト紙の記者、ボブ・ウッドワードとカール・バーンスタインがウォーターゲート事件をスクープした驚くべき実話です。

これらの読書に刺激を受けて、ダスティン・ホフマンとロバート・レッドフォード主演の同名映画を観ました。

それだけでは飽き足らず、メリル・ストリープとトム・ハンクス主演の『ペンタゴン・ペーパーズ／最高機密文書』も観ました。

出演者全員の演技が素晴らしかったです！
