As Good As It Gets!

Sorry for the delay in completing this series of posts. Life has been incredibly busy! These pictures are again from the trip we took this past September. The huge bridge is the Seto Ohashi Bridge, one of the largest suspension bridges in the world. What a thrill it was to photograph that stupendous site!
One of the reasons I want to keep working is that there has never been a time like today to be a teacher. Below is a one of the reasons for this incredible state of affairs.
Six weeks ago, I was in the middle of a tutoring session with a very astute intermediate non-native English language adult student. We were working on verb tenses. He wanted some practice exercises. I said I would prepare those for our next lesson. He said he could do better. He went to ChatGPT and one minute later, we had twenty excellent practice exercises. Given that I knew virtually nothing about AI, I was totally blown away! I was hooked and started to use ChatGPT on a daily basis.
However, when I tried to purchase a subscription for the more reliable paid version, the site would not accept my credit card. We live in Japan but I use a US mailing address for my credit card. No go with ChatGPT! I then did some research and discovered Perplexity, a very powerful AI tool that lists citations and references. I was hooked and even better, it accepted my credit card!
I now use Perplexity for most of my lesson planning, research, and any other information related needs. Because I can check the sources, I trust that site. I have found it to be very accurate! I have always thought that Google and other search tools are amazing. However, Perplexity takes the search process to another level of amazement.
As I mentioned previously, I have struggled with some issues related to arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation. Fortunately, I have not had any symptoms for six months. Recently, I wanted to confirm the steps I have been taking to address this condition, so I submitted my history to Perplexity. Given the amount of research I have done on this topic, I felt confident I could judge the quality of Perplexity's response. I swear that response was as if a cardiologist was sitting next to me sharing words of wisdom. Out of this world!
For Perplexity, it seems nothing in my world is out of reach! Setsuko just had successful cataract surgery on both eyes. She is doing quite well. I turned to Perplexity for related details. The results were incredibly helpful and informative!
